Established in 1970, Bylake Kennels has built a long-standing reputation for providing reliable, high-quality boarding for dogs and cats.
With over five decades of experience, we are proud to be one of the most trusted boarding kennels in Essex, known for our high standards of care, secure facilities, and personal approach to every animal we look after.
The kennels were originally founded in 1970 and have remained family-run ever since. Owner Mark took over the business from his late father, continuing the values the company was built on — providing a safe, well-managed, and caring environment where pets are treated with the same attention and respect as they would receive at home.
Alongside Mark, Beverly, who has been part of the team for more than 40 years, plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the kennels, helping to maintain the consistent level of care that our customers have come to rely on.
Holly has also been an important part of the team for the past three years. She is fantastic with the pets in our care and is especially loved by customers for taking regular photos of their pets during their stay, helping owners feel reassured while they are away. Holly also studied animal welfare at Writtle University College, part of Anglia Ruskin University, where she completed specialist hands-on training, including Level 1 and Level 2 certificates in animal care, handling, and management.
Over the years we have continually improved our facilities to ensure the highest levels of safety, comfort, and cleanliness. Our premises are designed to provide a secure and calm environment for all animals, and we are proud to be regarded as one of the most secure kennels in the area.
The site is fitted with a modern fire and smoke alarm system and, with the owner living on-site, there is always someone available 24 hours a day to oversee the kennels and respond quickly should any issue arise.
We understand that leaving your pet while you are away can be difficult, which is why we focus on creating a structured, relaxed atmosphere where animals can settle quickly and feel comfortable throughout their stay. Every pet receives individual attention, regular checks, and a consistent daily routine to help reduce stress and ensure their wellbeing at all times.
We welcome visits by appointment so you can see our facilities for yourself and feel confident in your choice. If you would like to find out more about our boarding services or arrange to view the kennels, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
"My 8 month old cat stayed here this month (November 25). I couldn't be happier with the care and attention he received. The staff were so kind and attentive. They knew I was nervous leaving him and sent regular updates and pics of Ollie being fussed over and brushed!Outstanding boarding cattery/kennels. I will definitely use again."
