We encourage all customers to read the terms and conditions below, which were last updated in March 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us on 01245 248665.
Your Pet’s Medication & Injuries
Owners must notify us before the booking period of any current or previous injuries their pet(s) may have had, along with details of any medication, treatment, or special care requirements needed during their stay.
Please note that we must give explicit agreement before accepting any injured pet or agreeing to administer medication or treatment. Owners are also responsible for informing us in advance of any changes to medication or treatment routines and gaining our agreement before arrival.
We are only able to administer medication between 9:00am and 6:00pm. Unfortunately, if your pet requires medication outside of these hours, we will be unable to accept the booking. If you are unsure whether this may affect your pet’s stay, we recommend speaking with your vet before booking.
Owners are responsible for providing enough medication for the full duration of the booking, along with an additional supply in case of unexpected delays such as cancelled flights or travel disruptions.
Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery reserves the right to refuse to administer medication if:
We were not fully informed before arrival
Your pet is unwilling or unable to take the medication
Administering the medication presents a risk of injury to staff
The medication itself poses a health and safety risk
While we will always do our best to follow owners’ instructions, we cannot guarantee that medication will be administered exactly as requested in every circumstance. We therefore accept no responsibility for any medication given, with or without the owner’s consent.
If our staff are unable to administer medication during your pet’s stay, we may contact a qualified veterinary surgeon to do so. Any associated veterinary costs will be the responsibility of the owner.
If a booking needs to be cancelled because of injury, medication, or treatment requirements that we are unable to accommodate, our standard cancellation policy will apply.
Your Pet’s Health & Vaccinations
Our terms and conditions are designed to protect the health and wellbeing of all animals staying at Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery.
Dogs must be fully vaccinated against:
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Hepatitis
- Leptospirosis
- Parainfluenza
- Infectious tracheobronchitis (kennel cough)
Vaccination certificates must be shown on arrival. Entry may be refused if vaccinations are not up to date. Dogs may stay with us 14 days after receiving their final vaccination.
Please note that vaccinations do not provide complete protection against kennel cough, and we cannot accept liability if your dog develops kennel cough during their stay.
Cats must also be fully vaccinated, with valid certificates provided for:
- Feline Leukemia
- Feline Infectious Enteritis
- Upper respiratory infections (Cat Flu)
Annual booster vaccinations must be given at least 10 days before arrival.
We cannot accept:
- Pregnant female cats
- Female cats in season
- Un-neutered male cats over seven months old
Owners will also be asked about their pet’s most recent flea and worm treatment. If your pet is found to have fleas or worms, treatment will be required before entry and will be charged to the owner.
To protect all animals in our care, we cannot accept pets suffering from, or suspected to be suffering from, an infectious illness. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any pet showing signs of ill health and may seek advice from a qualified veterinary surgeon where necessary.
By agreeing to our terms and conditions, owners authorise Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery to seek veterinary treatment for their pet if required during their stay.
Boarding
Boarding is charged on a full-day basis from the day of arrival to the day of departure, regardless of the collection or drop-off time.
Unless requested otherwise, pets from the same household may be boarded together in a shared pen. Pets from different households will always be boarded separately.
Owners are welcome to bring their pet’s own bedding for their stay. However, we cannot accept responsibility for bedding while it is in our care.
To help maintain consistency in your pet’s diet and avoid upset stomachs, we do not provide pet food. Owners must supply enough of their pet’s usual food for the entire duration of the stay.
We do not allow owners to bring food bowls, as these are provided by us during your pet’s stay.
Bookings
We cannot guarantee a specific pen for your pet during their stay and reserve the right to change or reallocate pens at any time before or during the booking period.
Late Arrival, Early Collection & Booking Amendments
If owners arrive after the agreed booking start date or collect their pet before the agreed booking end date, the full original boarding period will still be charged.
If a pet is not collected by close of business on the agreed collection date (4:30pm Monday to Friday, 4:15pm Saturday), they will be released on the next working day during opening hours. A full extra day of boarding will also be charged, with any additional days charged at our current daily rate.
Cancellation Policy
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, customers have a 14-day cooling-off period starting from the day after the booking is made.
Please note the following cancellation charges:
- If a booking is cancelled within 14 days of the original booking start date, 50% of the total booking cost will be charged
- If a booking is cancelled within 7 days of the original booking start date, 100% of the total booking cost will be charged
We ask customers to notify us of cancellations by phone as soon as possible. If a deposit has been paid, cancellation requests should be made in person.
Deposits are non-refundable. However, the value of the deposit can be transferred to a future booking.
Bylake Boarding Kennels and Cattery reserves the right to cancel any booking without notice or compensation if a customer behaves in a way we consider unreasonable.
Booking Amendments
If a customer asks to shorten the boarding period within 14 days of the original booking start date, the full original booking amount will still apply.
Likewise, if a customer requests different dates within 14 days of the booking start date and we are unable to accommodate the new dates, the full original booking amount will still be payable.
Payment Methods
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure any booking.
The remaining balance is due when collecting your pet(s). This includes the agreed boarding fees and any additional charges incurred during the stay, such as veterinary fees or extra boarding days.
Payment can be made by cash or debit card.
